Peter provides the full gambit of REF submission consultancy, producing critical advisory services tailored to specific institutions. He has also acted as a Panel and Sub-Panel consultant for the four higher education funding bodies.

• Peter is highly experienced in advising on staff submissions, output selections, and the number and type of impact case studies required.

• Peter worked on a number of Expert Panels during the 2017/01 REF Assessments, using his experience and his extensive working knowledge to secure and promote the international benchmarking of clear standards of excellence.

• The four UK funding bodies are committed to embedding equality and diversity in all aspects of REF policy and decision-making. Peter continues to support HEI education departments in preparing for and succeeding in Equality Impact Assessments. 

• The Stern Review recently underlined ‘the essential role of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex problems and research questions posed by global social, economic, ecological and political challenges’. Peter is now engaged in regular liaison with HEFCE, the DfE and the Office for Fair Access so he can help academic departments respond to this imperative during the 2021 REF rounds.
